Representatives of the Secretariat of the Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences:
Dr. Nehme Azoury: Secretary-General of the Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences and Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Commercial Sciences at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanon.
Mrs. Mirine Maalouf: International Relations officer, Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences.
Dr. Georges Yahchouchi: Director of the Higher Institute of political and administrative sciences; Rector Assistant.
At the beginning of the conference, the Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities Dr. Saleh Hashem and the Secretary-General of the Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences Dr. Nehme Azoury extended a warm welcome to the participants. For his part, Dr. Hashem insisted on the importance of the association’s institutions and looked over the association’s achievements, as well as the recent activities he accomplished, notably the inauguration of the association’s new headquarters and the development of the instances of the council of quality and accreditation assurance. In this scope, Dr. Hashem reiterated the importance of establishing quality standards in the faculties of Business Administration and Commercial Sciences. Thus, he submitted a copy of the proposed standards to the participants with a view to assess the Information Technology faculties programs.
Afterwards, Dr. Nehme Azoury looked over the recent activities of the society that encompassed the following:
- The publication of the third issue of the Arab Economic and Business Journal.
- The third scientific conference on Academic Governance, held on February 16th and 17th, 2009.
- Calling upon the faculties’ presidents and deans to adhere to the Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences. The number of subscribers to date is forty universities.
Following the discussions centered on the mechanisms aiming at activating the society’s work, the participants convened to elect an executive committee, representing one university in each Arab State.
The executive committee encompasses the following members:
Dr. Hamida Jassem Abu Hussein, Dean of the faculty of Business and Administration at the University of Bahrain, Bahrain.
Dr. Mohamad Al Sakka, Dean of the faculty of Business Administration at the University of Kalamoon, Syria.
Dr. Walid Hamidat, Dean of the faculty of Economy and administrative sciences at Yarmouk University, Jordan.
Dr. Adnan Bin Mustapha Sabri Al Amasi, Dean of the faculty of financial and administrative sciences at Taibah University, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Rabeh Kachad, Dean of the faculty of Economics and Management at Saad Dahlab University of Blida, Algeria.
Dr. Yaacoub Ali Janji, Dean of School of Management Studies at University of Khartoum, Sudan.
Dr. Said Abd Al Aziz, Dean of the faculty of Commerce at Alexandria University, Arab Republic of Egypt.
Dr. Nehme Azoury, Dean of the faculty of Business Administration and Commercial Sciences at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik.
The participants adopted the recommendations below:
- Calling upon the deans of the faculties, members of the executive committee, to seek to convince the faculties of their regions to adhere to the Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences.
- Calling upon the teaching body of the member faculties to intensify their researches and enrich the Arab Economic and Business Journal, published by the society.
- Establishing quality standards, notably the ones related to the programs of the faculties of business administration and commercial sciences; the standards shall be submitted to the Secretariat of the Association of Arab Universities.
- Confirming the annual meeting of the general assembly’s members.
- Insisting on the importance of scientific conferences which enable Arab and non-Arab researchers to communicate and beneficiate from the available expertise.
- Calling upon the member faculties to intensify their communication through the students and professors programs.
