Record of the General Assembly- May 10th, 2010

 

Upon the invitation of the General Secretariat of The Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences (BEPS), the General Assembly meeting was held at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik on May 10th, 2010 in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Commercial Sciences, Dr. Nehme Azoury. It is worth mentioning that the Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities (AARU), Dr. Saleh Hashem could not attend the meeting due to unexpected and urgent reasons.

Dr. Nehme Azoury: Secretary-General of the Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences and Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Commercial Sciences at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanon.

 

Mrs. Mirine Maalouf: International Relations officer, Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences.

 

Dr. Georges Yahchouchi: Director of the Higher Institute of political and administrative sciences; Rector Assistant.

 

Ms. Romy Rahmé: International Relations, Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences.

 

Ms. Léa Yahchouchy: Assistant Dean, Faculty of Business and Commercial Sciences.

 

At the beginning of the conference, the Secretary-General of the Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences (BEPS) Dr. Nehmé Azoury welcomed the Arab Deans and thanked them for their participation in this annual meeting that revolves around enhancing the activities of the society in favor of its development in the Arab world.

 

Afterwards, Mrs. Mirine Maalouf looked over the recent activities of the society that encompassed the following:

 

  • The publication of the fourth issue of the Arab Economic and Business Journal along with the upcoming publication of the fifth issue.
  • The fourth scientific conference on Social Audit and Culture(s), held on May 10th and 11th, 2010.
  • The agreement concluded with EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development), an international membership organization that has over 730 member organizations from academia, business and public service and that acts as a catalyst to promote and enhance excellence in management development in Europe and worldwide.

 

Afterwards, the participants shed light on the importance of reinforcing and enhancing the society’s activities, contributing then to the development of the Arab Universities at all the levels. To that end, the participants formulated the following recommendations:

 

  • The participants unanimously convened to expand the field of the Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences to comprise, in addition to the faculties of Business Administration and Commercial Sciences, the faculties of Economic and Political Sciences. The General Secretariat of the Association of Arab Universities will be informed for approval.
  • Reinforcing and generalizing the Arab Economic and Business Journal in the Arab countries, universities and institutions in order to increase the submitted researches. Therefore, we should call the teaching body of the faculty members to intensify their researches with a view to enrich the Arab Economic and Business Journal.
  • Enhancing the scientific committee’s activity in favor of the published papers and their scientific level.
  • Establishing quality standards in relating to the programs of the faculties of business administration and commercial sciences; the standards shall be submitted to the Secretariat of the Association of Arab Universities in order to beneficiate from the existing common points among the Arab States.
  • Insisting on the importance of scientific conferences which enable Arab and non-Arab researchers to communicate and beneficiate from the available expertise.
  • Calling upon the faculty members to intensify their communication through students’ and professors’ programs.
  • Expand the invitation of the Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences (BEPS) to participate in the conference organized by EFMD at the University of Dubai on November 28th- 30th, 2010, on the international impact through business administration programs in MENA region.

 

At the end of the meeting, the Dean of the Faculty of Commerce at Alexandria University, Dr. Said Ossman, proposed to hold next year’s meeting in Alexandria, Egypt. To that end, the participants convened to take the necessary measures.
