BEPS internal regulation was established during its deans’ first constituent conference, held at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik on May 13th and14th 1998, Lebanon.

 

 

Section 1: Internal Regulation

 

Society Name: Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences.

 

General Provisions: The faculties and institutes of administrative sciences in Arab Universities constitute:

 

Article 1:

A society named “Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences”, characterized by a moral personality and a financial and administrative independence.

 

Article 2:

Society Nature
“Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences” is a non-profit-making Arab educational association that does not resort to political activities.

 

Article 3:

Society Objectives
The society seeks to enhance the education of faculties of business, economic and political sciences in Arab universities which adhered to the Association of Arab Universities and generalize the developments and updates in its work field through the cooperation and coordination existing between the faculties and institutes in Arab states and the whole world.

 

Article 4:

The society’s permanent headquarters is the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik- Jounieh, Lebanon.

Section 2: BEPS Mission

 

Article 5:

BEPS accomplishes the following functions:

 

1.
 

Coordinating and developing curricula in faculty members and institutes of the Association of Arab Universities.

 

2.
 

Promoting cooperation in the areas of writing, arabicising and publishing.

 

3.
 

Issuing a scientific magazine specialized in publishing the newest updates in business administration and commercial sciences.

 

4.
 

Seeking to issue a scientific glossary in Arabic, English and French in the fields of business administration and commercial sciences.

 

5.
 

Providing advice and expertise with a view to lay the scientific foundation aiming at establishing new faculties for business administration and commercial sciences in Arab States.

 

6.
 

Providing coordination among scientific, service and research centers in business administration and commercial sciences faculties and institutes.

 

7.
 

Holding scientific specialized seminars and conferences, as well as a biennial scientific conference aiming at discussing the main updates.

 

8.
 

Enhancing the exchange of educational, training and research expertise.

 

9.
 

Promoting the coordination in postgraduate fields regarding common subjects and common supervision.

 

10.
 

Encouraging researchers to conduct scientific common studies among business administration and commercial sciences faculties and institutes.

 

11.
 

Issuing a global guidebook for the society’s members and educational cadres in Arab States.

 

12.
 

Establishing an information network and seeking to enhance the links between the society and its counterparts in the world.

Section 3: Membership

 

Article 6:

General membership is open to all faculties of business administration, economic and political sciences.

 

Article 7:

Faculties/Institutes are admitted in the society in conformity with the following requirements:

 

7-1. The faculty/institute should be recognized, as well as the degrees it delivers, through academic and higher education officers in the Origin Country.

 

7-2. Members should hold a high school diploma (12 years of studies minimum), or its equivalent that enables them to adhere to the programs of first degree. Besides, members should be holders of the first degree that enables them to adhere to higher educational programs.

 

7-3. The required duration of studies to obtain academic degrees should abide by the university norms existing in the Arab world.

Section 4: BEPS Bodies

 

Article 8:

The society is composed of the following bodies:

 

1.

General Assembly council

2.

Executive committee

3.

Secretariat

 

Article 9:

The general assembly council is considered as the society’s higher body. The council is composed of the deans of the faculty members / the presidents of the member institutes or their representatives. Each member of the society shall have one voice.

 

Article 10:

The general assembly exerts the following procedures and measures:

 

10-1. Developing the society’s general policies.

 

10-2. Approving the society’s annual plan of action.

 

10-3. Establishing a communication network that links the member faculties to their counterparts in the world.

 

10-4. Issuing scientific journals related to the society’s activities.

 

10-5. Setting up the necessary financial and administrative bases for the good-functioning of work within the society.

 

10-6. Adopting the society’s annual budget and ratifying the final account.

 

10-7. Accepting contributions, donations and grants in the light of the society’s objectives.

 

10-8. Amending the society’s internal regulation through a two-third resolution.

 

10-9. Electing, from the society’s members, an executive committee.

 

Article 11:

The general assembly holds an annual meeting in one of the headquarters of the faculty members or institutes.
The dean of the hosting faculty shall head the meeting.
The absolute majority of the society’s members shall attend the meeting.
Resolutions and recommendations shall be adopted by the absolute majority of the society’s members who attended the meeting.

 

Article 12:

The executive committee is composed of 4 members that represent the faculties of business and economic sciences and 4 members that represent the political sciences faculties.

It exerts the following procedures:

 

12-1. Proposing the society’s annual budget project.

 

12-2. Accepting contributions, donations and grants in the light of the society’s objectives.

 

12-3. Proposing the annual plan of action in cooperation with the Secretary-General of the society.

 

12-4. Following up, with the Secretary-General, the implementation of the general assembly’s resolutions and examining the issues submitted by the general assembly.

 

Article 13:

The executive committee holds a meeting every 6months at least in one of the headquarters of the faculty members or institutes. The meeting shall be headed by the dean of the hosting faculty.

 

Article 14:

The dean of the hosting faculty holds the position of Secretary-General; he shall be helped by a group of assigned workers in the same faculty, among whom a financial official, with a view to ensure the good-functioning of the society’s secretariat.

Section 5: BEPS Funds

 

Article 15:

The society’s funds emanate from:

 

 
  • Annual contributions in the society in conformity with the general assembly’s resolutions.
  • Grants, donations and contributions accepted by the executive body according to its objectives.
  • The support of the Association of Arab Universities council in the light of the society’s activities.
  • The society’s revenue.

 

Article 16:

The society’s funds take the form of deposits in one of the banks of the society. The society’s funds are spent following the approval of the Secretary-General and the financial official.

General Provisions

 

Article 17:

In case none of the society’s members called for hosting the meeting of the general assembly or executive committee, the meeting will be held in the headquarters.

 

Article 18:

The Secretary-General submits an annual report on the society’s activity, budget and final account to the Secretariat of the Association of Arab Universities which comments and examines the potential suitable support of the society.

 

Article 19:

Following the regulation’s adoption and signature by the speakers, the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Commercial Sciences at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik is charged of representing the society before the Lebanese local government and strives to guarantee education and expertise in conformity with Lebanese laws in force.
